Privacy Policy

Effective October 1, 2026

Sidequest helps parents and caregivers plan outings with kids. Your family's information is used for one thing: making those plans work for you. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you control. It applies to the Sidequest website, apps, and services run by Good Company, LLC (goodcompany.works) ("we," "us").

Our promises

  1. We never sell your information, and we never share it for advertising. No ad networks, no data brokers.
  2. We share your information only with your consent, with service providers who run Sidequest on our behalf under contract, or when the law requires it.
  3. Kids don't have accounts. You add only what's useful for planning, and children's names never appear on anything shared beyond the people you choose.
  4. Allergies and health notes are locked to account owners. They are never used in AI requests, public posts, or analytics, and are shared only when you turn sharing on for a specific person.
  5. Your location is rounded to about 1 kilometer before it's used to find places, so we plan around your neighborhood, never your front door.
  6. You confirm before Sidequest remembers anything, with an extra confirmation for anything health-related.
  7. You can see, download, correct, or delete your information whenever you like.

What we collect automatically

  • Approximate location, if you allow it. Your device's location is rounded to about 1 km before we use or store it.
  • Product usage events, such as "plan generated" or "outing finished," tied to a session ID and, if you're signed in, your account. We collect only a fixed list of events and short labels; children's details are never part of them.
  • Technical data, such as browser type, device type, and IP address, handled by our hosting providers to deliver and secure the Service.

What we get from others, only if you connect them

  • Google sign-in: your name and email address.
  • Google or Outlook calendar: calendar access you grant, so outings can sync to your calendar. You can disconnect at any time.

How we use information

  • Generate, adjust, and save outing plans, packets, and cheat sheets for your crew.
  • Find nearby places, weather, and events around your approximate area.
  • Let you share plans and preference packs with people you choose.
  • Run the optional social features you turn on.
  • Remember confirmed preferences so future plans fit better.
  • Keep Sidequest secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
  • Understand, in aggregate, which features work so we can improve them.
  • Send account and service messages. Any marketing email is opt-in and has an unsubscribe link.
  • Comply with the law.

We do not use your information for targeted advertising, and we do not build profiles of children.

When information is shared

We share information only in these situations:

  1. With people you choose. When you share a plan link, send a preference pack, invite someone to your shared space, post to followers or the public, or accept a connection. You decide what's included. Allergy information is off by default in every preference pack and goes only to people you share it with.
  2. With service providers who run Sidequest for us. They may use your information only to provide their service to us, under contracts that require them to protect it. They include:
    • Lovable (application hosting and AI plan generation)
    • Supabase (account sign-in and database)
    • Google Maps Platform (maps and nearby places)
    • Weather and event-listing providers (receive only your approximate area)
    • Google and Microsoft (only if you connect a calendar or use Google sign-in)
    • AgentMail (receives public venue newsletters we turn into event listings; it never receives your family's information)
    • Twilio (SMS and WhatsApp delivery for Scout, only if you message Scout)
    • Meta (WhatsApp Business delivery for Scout, only if you message Scout on WhatsApp)
    • Resend (email delivery for Scout and product email, only if you use those features)
  3. For legal reasons. When we believe in good faith that the law, a valid legal process, or an imminent threat to someone's safety requires it. Where allowed, we will tell you first.
  4. If Sidequest changes ownership. If Sidequest is acquired or merges with another company, your information may transfer as part of that deal only if the new owner keeps every promise in this policy. We will notify you before any transfer and give you the chance to delete your account first.

We maintain a current list of service providers and will update it before adding a new provider that receives family information.

How AI is used

Sidequest uses AI to write and adjust outing plans. Before any request reaches the AI provider, we remove what isn't needed:

Sent to AINever sent to AI
Children's agesChildren's nicknames (replaced with labels like “Child A”)
Interests, themes, and preferencesAllergies and health notes
Approximate area (rounded to ~1 km)Your precise location
Your plan request and chat editsYour email address or account details

Our AI provider, Lovable, and the model providers it works with process these requests only to return a plan. Under their terms, this information is not used to train AI models.

Scout messaging

Scout is an optional way to plan by text, WhatsApp, or email. When you message Scout:

  • In a direct chat with Scout, we process the messages you send so Scout can reply and help with plans.
  • In a group chat, Scout only acts when you tag or address it. We do not monitor the rest of the group thread.
  • Phone or email linking to your Sidequest account requires an explicit confirmation step before the contact is bound.
  • Memories from Scout stay pending until you confirm them. Allergies and health notes are never extracted into shared memories from chat.
  • Carriers and messaging providers (such as Twilio, Meta WhatsApp, and Resend) receive the content needed to deliver messages. Message and data rates may apply on SMS.
  • STOP / HELP on SMS opts you out of or explains Scout texts, per carrier rules.

Scout will not disclose another person's preferences, calendar details, or private family information. Child packets are never sent into a group thread.

Social features and privacy controls

Social features are off until you turn them on. You control whether your profile is private, visible to connections, or public; whether to show your crew's ages as a range or the number of kids; and whether anyone can connect with you. Connections always require both people to approve. Anything you post is automatically scrubbed of children's names, exact dates and times, private notes, and allergy information before others can see it.

How we protect information

  • Every shared space is walled off at the database level, so members can reach only their own space's data.
  • Allergies and health notes are stored separately and restricted to account owners.
  • Shared links and public profiles return only a scrubbed copy, never the underlying records.
  • Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our hosting providers.
  • Internal access to analytics is limited to authorized administrators and shows aggregate usage.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you and any required authorities as the law requires, and tell you what we're doing about it.

Your choices and rights

Every user, wherever you live, can:

  • access and download a copy of your information;
  • correct anything inaccurate;
  • delete specific items, a child's profile, or your entire account;
  • withdraw consent for memories, allergy sharing, calendar sync, or social features at any time;
  • opt out of marketing email.

Use the controls in Settings or email privacy@sidequestkids.com. We respond within 30 days and may need to verify your identity. We will never treat you differently for using these rights.

California residents. In the past 12 months we collected the categories listed under "Information we collect." We do not sell or share personal information as California law defines those terms, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. You have the right to know, delete, correct, and limit use of sensitive personal information, and you may use an authorized agent. We honor Global Privacy Control signals. Because we don't track you across other sites, we treat browser "Do Not Track" signals the same way.

Other U.S. states. Residents of states with consumer privacy laws, including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, and Oregon, have similar rights, plus the right to appeal if we decline a request. Email privacy@sidequestkids.com with "Appeal" in the subject.

EU, UK, and other regions. Sidequest is designed for families in the United States. If you use it from elsewhere, your information is processed in the U.S. We rely on performing our contract with you, your consent (for optional features and health information), and our legitimate interest in running a secure Service. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children's privacy

Sidequest is for adults. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to create an account or collect information directly from children. Information about children is added by their parent or guardian, who controls it and can review, change, or delete it at any time. If you believe a child has created an account or given us information directly, email privacy@sidequestkids.com and we will delete it.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use only what's needed to keep you signed in, remember your settings, and count product usage through our own first-party events. We don't use advertising cookies or third-party ad trackers.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change, we will notify you by email or in the app at least 14 days before it takes effect. We will ask for your consent before using information already collected in a materially different way.
